2025 Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple Annual Obon Festival (Bon Odori Dancing, Japanese Food, Dango, Games, Auction, Special Udon..) VHBT (2 Days)NEW

The Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple will hold their annual Obon Festival in July from 3pm to 9pm. Enjoy traditional Obon favorites like Chicken Teriyaki, Won Ton, Udon, Sushi, Andagi and Shave Ice. Lots of fun and games for the young ones too. Bid on our Silent Auction or take a chance on our Opportunity Drawing.

Some parking will be available at the Venice Japanese Community Center.

Food offerings:  Chicken Teriyaki bowl, Won Ton, Andagi (aka Okinawa Dango), our famous Udon, Shave Ice, Sushi, Asian Chicken Salad, Hot Dogs and a Beer Garden.  

Special Udon
This special udon being served at the Venice Obon Festival, curated by George Asawa and the Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple community, holds cultural significance and serves as a cherished tradition. Joe Belli involvement in the preparation of this udon dish (dashi) showcases his dedication to preserving and sharing Japanese culinary heritage. The udon represents a culinary symbol of the festival, bringing people together to celebrate and honor ancestors while fostering a sense of unity and cultural pride through the generations.
