The History of Hikari at Tanaka Farms
Hikari - A Festival of Lights began as a simple idea: bring warmth, joy, and holiday magic to the farm during the winter season. What started as quiet months with the farm closed has grown into a beloved annual tradition that now lights up Tanaka Farms with over a million shimmering lights. Inspired by the Japanese word Hikari (“shine”), the event reflects the farm’s roots, community spirit, and commitment to creating meaningful experiences for families.

Over the years, Hikari has evolved into a full holiday festival where guests wander glowing pathways, enjoy cozy wagon rides, visit barnyard animals, savor hot cocoa and seasonal treats, and take part in games, crafts, and festive photo opportunities. Today, it stands as one of Orange County’s most cherished holiday traditions-bringing families together to make memories that shine year after year.
