Noted Japanese-American poet, playwright and actor Hiroshi Kashiwagi will read from his latest work "Starting from Loomis and Other Stories" - a short story collection and memoir about his nine decades of Nisei life experiences in California.
Kashiwagi is 91 and best known for his plays "The Plums Can Wait" and "The Betrayed" and was recently honored for his poetry at the White House by President Obama.
The Northwest Pacific film premiere of "Infinity & Chashu Ramen" will follow.
The universe unfolds a little differently in San Francisco's Japantown - a sleepy neighborhood in the heart of the city where magic is in the air and Tengu spirits roam the streets.
Kashiwagi plays a mischievous 400-year-old spirit who has been guiding the lives of residents by himself for generations. But today is different. Today, he has a new apprentice, young Lucy Yamaguchi. Together, these two unseen spirits will wander in and out of the lives of unsuspecting residents as they try to keep the universe running smoothly.
