Who Southern California Surf Association
Since 1988, the Southern California Surf Association has held one of the largest Japanese surfing competitions annually.

In the midst of hardships in a foreign land with different languages and customs, friends who can't usually see each other continue to surf forever, helping each other both professionally and privately, working hard, and trying their best here in California.1988 We had our first gathering at Surf Beach San Onofre in November.

At first, there were about 30 participants and the audience was scattered. Still, there is no doubt that it was a warm gathering where like-minded people leaned shoulder to shoulder and confirmed each other's health.

Since then, this contest has gradually become known, and in 1993, we were able to successfully secure the current contest venue, San Clemente, Church Point.

Church Point is famous for having some of the best quality waves in the United States, and there is no end to the number of groups wanting to hold contests here.

The city of San Clemente, where the world competition is held, holds the contest only six times a year. This is because we have exchanged ideas and gained understanding over many years.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, the ASP (Association of Surfing Professionals) has volunteered to participate as judges in professional surfing contests around the world, improving the morale and level of the athletes.

The number of participants in the contest has increased each time, with some returning to Japan and others aiming for California.

More than 3,000 surfers have run through this contest over the last 20 years.

Among them are many players who are currently active as professionals in Japan, as well as applicants from California, Hawaii and Japan who wish to participate.

People of all ages, from lower grades of elementary school to people in their 60s, participate.

We are proud that this contest has been held for 26 years and has never been canceled for more than a century. Above all, we are supported by our sponsors, participating athletes, and many volunteers, for which we are truly grateful.

Through this historic event, we would like to deepen friendships and exchanges with more people, hope to revitalize Japanese companies, and continue the contest.
