Japanese American History will be celebrated with the Seabrook Buddhist Temple’s 78th Annual Obon Festival Event.  Traditional Japanese folk dancing and taiko drumming will be featured during the Seabrook Buddhist Temple’s Annual Obon Festival in New Jersey will be held on Saturday in July.

Admission and parking are free.  Please bring your own lawn chair and or blanket.

Each year, since 1945, the Seabrook Buddhist Temple has celebrated Obon. Temple members are proud to honor their heritage and share their history. The Obon Odori (dance) is a “Dance of Joy”, honoring all those who have passed before us and the sacrifices they have made to make our lives better. Seabrook Buddhist Temple is located at 9 Northville Road off of State Highway #77 in Seabrook, New Jersey. Folding or lawn chairs are recommended for your comfort.

The Seabrook Educational and Cultural Center (SECC), located in the Upper Deerfield Municipal Building on State Highway 77 in Seabrook will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Its exhibits including multimedia and a diorama document the rich history of Seabrook. http://seabrookeducation.org

Transportation
For those taking public transportation, the NJ Transit Bus #410 originating from Philadelphia to Bridgeton, NJ drops you right by the Seabrook Buddhist Temple where the festival takes place. Or you can get off in front of the SECC museum (about a 10 minute walk, 1 minute drive from the Temple).
