Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church Annual Obon Festival
You’re invited to the Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church’s Buddhist Festival of Obon.
Enjoy Obon Dancing, Japanese music by the San Jose Chidori Band, and delicious Japanese foods in a vibrant community atmosphere.
Colorful yukata-clad participants gather for the Obon dance - a memorial day for our departed loved ones and a celebration of gratitude. With joy, we honor the lives of those who came before us, whose contributions continue to shape our own.

Held at the Sangha Hall, Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church

(Tuesday, Thursday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Practices are optional. Everyone is invited to join and dance-no experience necessary!
Hatsubon & Obon Service
Sunday, August 10, 2025 at 10:00 am
Join us online or in person for a spiritual service to honor departed loved ones. A special Hatsubon (First Obon Service) will be conducted for those observing their first Obon.

Sunday, August 11, 2024 at 10:00am. SACBC will conduct its Annual Buddhist Obon Spiritual Service for all our departed loved ones. Those who lost their loved ones this past year are especially welcome. We will conduct a special service for them called Hatsubon (First Obon Service).
