Japan Festival 2025 - 40th Anniversary Celebration.
Celebrate 40 years of cultural exchange, friendship, and Japanese heritage at Japan Festival 2025, one of the Midwest’s premier Japanese cultural events. Taking place at Skokie Sports Park East, this free family-friendly festival features an exciting blend of traditional and modern Japanese arts, food, fashion, and performances. Hosted by the Chicago Japanese American Council (CJAC) and supported by the Consulate-General of Japan in Chicago, this milestone event showcases the rich diversity and spirit of Japanese culture.

• 11:00 am - Opening Ceremony
• Live performances: Ho Etsu Taiko, Chicago Koto Group, Chimu Don Don (Okinawan music & dance), Mikoren Folk Dance
• Martial Arts Demos: Kyudo (archery), Kyokushin Karate, Shotokan Karate, Kendo, Aikido, and Samurai Swordsmanship
• Kendama and Cosplay Contests (featuring Mario Kart, Shiba Inu, and anime themes)
• 6:00 pm - Closing Ceremony
Enjoy a full day of authentic Japanese street food, tea ceremonies, anime art, kimono fashion, hands-on workshops, and cultural exhibits. Whether you're passionate about Japan or just curious, there’s something for everyone to explore and enjoy.
