About Nisei Week Karate Tournament
Witness history in action at the 64th Annual Nisei Week Karate Tournament and Exhibition, hosted by Shotokan Karate of America. It all began in 1957 when Chief Instructor Tsutomu Ohshima delivered the first-ever karate demonstration to the American public, sparking a tradition that continues to this day. Held as part of the Nisei Week Japanese Festival, this event celebrates Japanese arts, traditions, games, and food. Join us in August at the esteemed Tersaki Budokan in Little Tokyo for this extraordinary showcase of skill and cultural heritage. Don't miss the oldest annual public karate demonstration in the United States!
