Great Leap’s FandangObon is an evolving gathering of Japanese Obon, Mexican Fandango, West African, and Sufi Muslim music and dance traditions that bring us together in a circle of connection. This annual celebration highlights joy, resilience, and our interconnectedness with each other and Mother Earth.

Highlights
Opening Ritual at 4pm led by Nobuko Miyamoto with 20+ artists, poets, and musicians
Altar Installations by Master altaristas Ofelia & Rosanna Esparza
Performances include West African dance (Le Ballet Dembaya), contemporary Japanese Obon (Mottainai Band), Sufi Hadrah (Kamau & Asiyah), Son Jarocho (Fandanguerx Community), Okaeri Ondo (Queer & Trans Resilience Dance), and BIMAK LA (Igorot tribal dance from the Philippines)
Dance Tutorials so all ages can participate and learn new rhythms
