About Year of the Snake
In Japan, the Year of the Snake (巳年, Mi-doshi) is one of the twelve zodiac signs in the Chinese zodiac system (eto), which is widely observed in Japanese culture. Each year is associated with one of twelve animals, and the snake holds significant cultural and symbolic meaning.

Symbolism of the Snake in Japanese Culture:
• Wisdom and Intelligence: The snake is often associated with wisdom, cleverness, and the ability to make sound decisions. In Japanese folklore, snakes are believed to possess deep knowledge and insight.
• Good Fortune and Prosperity: Snakes are seen as symbols of wealth and prosperity in Japan. Historically, white snakes, in particular, are considered sacred and are often associated with the deity Benzaiten, the goddess of wealth, music, and eloquence.
• Transformation and Renewal: Because snakes shed their skin, they symbolize renewal, transformation, and the ability to start anew. This is often interpreted as a time for personal growth or life changes.
• Protection and Guardianship: In some Japanese beliefs, snakes are considered protectors, especially in the context of family and homes. Snake talismans are sometimes used to ward off misfortune.
