The Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden, in partnership With The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles, will host a special event at the garden to welcome three geisha from Kyoto. It will be a rare opportunity to interact with real geisha and experience a tradition that has endured through centuries, evolving and remaining one of the most iconic cultural treasures of Japan.

While there are geisha elsewhere in the country, Kyoto is uniquely identified with geisha life. There, young women live and train for many years to become professional entertainers and social companions, highly skilled in the arts of conversation, music, dance, literature and tea ceremony.

Guests may enjoy the beauty and artistry of Japan's most famous and historical entertainers as the geisha give two performances of traditional music and dance in the Niko-an Teahouse wearing kimono costumes and oshiroi makeup.

Wine, sake and an exquisite selection of appetizers and desserts, catered by local chef, Casey Felton, will be offered throughout the night. Felton has dazzled diners with her new Hollywood restaurant Banh Oui.

The garden will also offer their always popular Silent Auction featuring Japanese art treasures and gift certificates to local restaurants, shops and fun activities. Additionally, it will be opening night of a new exhibition in En Gallery, of abstract ink paintings by Japanese artist, Keiko Arai.

This event is part of The Japan Foundation's 2019 West Coast Tour, Real Geisha, Real Women.
Proceeds will go to support the garden, its community outreach, and cultural and educational mission.
Casey Felton's menu and biographical information about the geisha with photographs will be sent soon.
