Senshin Buddhist Temple will be having their Obon Bon Odori Event on Saturday with dancing from 7:00 pm, Omairi in the Hondo at 9:00 pm, then Sento Shogen (1000 oil lamps), Otoki, and ending with Horaku by Kinnara Taiko at 10 pm. Senshin Temple is close to USC.

Obon is a significant annual event in Japanese culture. Rooted in Buddhist traditions, Obon is a time to honor and pay respect to the spirits of ancestors. It is believed that during this period, the spirits of the deceased return to visit their living relatives.

Senshin Buddhist Temple isn't your typical Obon Festival. There aren't food booths and game tents that line the parking lot, the focus is on the meaning of Obon.

After the Bon Odori, don't miss the special lighting of 1000 oil lamps, also live Taiko in the center stage.  Don't miss this very special event.

USC: Obon Festival - Just Minutes from Campus. Join us at the Senshin Buddhist Temple, located just blocks from the University of Southern California (USC), for one of the most heartfelt Obon celebrations in Los Angeles. If you're searching for an "Obon near USC" or a "USC Obon Festival," this is the event to attend.
