Map of Portland Japanese Garden, 611 S.W. Kingston Ave.

The Portland Japanese Garden is hosting unique Japanese musician GAKU-MC in a benefit to return two Shinto torii gates to the small village of Hachinohe. The sacred gates were washed to the Oregon Coast following the 2011 Great Eastern Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. The benefit concert is a continuation of the Garden's kasagi project, and will also support GAKU-MC's charity Akali To Live, currently working to build a safe indoor playground for children living in the shadow of the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

Each night's entertainment will kick off with local favorites, The Von Trapps. The candle-lit concert will feature acoustic music filled with a positive message. This is GAKU-MC's first-ever performance in the United States, and promises to be an incredible, intimate concert.

VIP Ticket holders are invited to meet the artists at an intimate reception from 5:30-6:30pm, with authentic organic Japanese cuisine donated by long-time Garden collaborator, Chef Naoko.
