Coming in 2023

The Annual Concord Japanese American summer festival, located at 3165 Treat Boulevard, is scheduled to begin July 2023.  The event will include live demonstrations and displays of Japanese culture and heritage. Displays such as Bonsai (miniature tree sculptures), calligraphy and Ikenobo, (flower arrangements), will be provided. Live demonstrations will include several groups performing Taiko (Japanese drums), Judo, folk and classical Japanese dancing, and Kendo (Japanese swords), are scheduled throughout the two day event.

Japanese food and beverages are also available for purchase including tempura, udon, gyoza, chicken and beef teriyaki, sushi and sake. The proceeds from the celebration helps support the non-profit organization, which in turn supports the many affiliated cultural clubs that reside at the Japanese American center.

Admission is free to all, with free street parking. Parking is also available at Ygnacio Valley High school, located at 755 Oak Grove Road, with a free shuttle provided.

The JA Club Summer Festival is the annual fundraiser for the Japanese American Religious & Cultural Center (JARCC). It is a very popular and highly anticipated event for many in the community and elsewhere throughout the East Bay.

The Summer Festival is a very popular event and significant crowds are always expected. So, this makes parking a bit of a challenge. While there is very limited disabled parking available, we do provide a drop-off/pickup area in front of the building. We have also arranged for free parking at Ygnacio Valley High School a few blocks away. Free shuttle service runs frequently between the High School and JA Club throughout the day and evening hours.

Ygnacio Valley High School is located at 755 Oak Grove Road, Concord.
