A benefit art exhibition to support the recovery of Japan. The group show will feature donated works by artists whose talent and generosity will aid the Japan Society Earthquake Relief Fund. Contributions to the Fund go to organizations that directly help victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake that struck Japan on March 11, 2011. These include Japanese nonprofit organizations on the front line of relief and recovery and those that work on healthcare needs, including mental health services and the needs of children, including children who have lost one or both parents.

In keeping with the "Support. Inspire. Create. Renew" vision of ART from the ashes; all work must integrate the use of reclaimed elements and embody the theme of support. Artists are encouraged to "reclaim" their own remnants (castoffs from their own creative process) for use in creating their donated work. By utilizing materials that appear to be void of possibility, the artwork in this exhibition intends to symbolize a renewal process for Japan that inspires hope.

Participating artists: Jud Bergeron, Caroline Blackburn, Peter Callas, YaYa Chou, Jennifer Davis,
Joy Feuer, Kathie Foley-Meyer, Camille Rose Garcia, Seonna Hong, Yosuke Hasegawa, Jordin
Isip, Kiel Johnson, Debbie Kupinsky, Jon Langford, John Matthews, Rick McLean, Lisa Occhipinti, Jill Platner, Jean-Pierre Roy, Gwen Samuels, Nina Savill, Andrew Schoultz, Karen Sikie, Joe Sorren, Nathan Spoor, Mike Stilkey, William Stranger, Sinton Stranger, Mayumi Tanaka, Lydia Tjioe Hall, Evan Vieser, Martin Webb, Yoskay Yamamoto, David Yow.

Musical performance by Motoko Honda and Jesse Gilbert - "Still Now, Japan" Piano/electronics improvisation and live visuals generated by *Spectral GL, creating an integrated organism that speaks with one voice.

The piece collects the thoughts and recent experience of Honda's personal friends and family members in Japan through images, messages, texts, diaries and blogs, woven into four stories which the audience can experience as an immersive whole. Each story will be performed in 20 minute sets interspersed throughout the event.
