On Monday, April 18, 2011 over a dozen leading jazz artists will join forces at Highline Ballroom to present a benefit concert to support recovery efforts in Japan. "The scale and magnitude of this tragedy is hard to fathom", says Charles Carlini, the event organizer. "I felt I had to do something to help."

The lineup includes feature performances by Madeleine Peyroux, Joe Lovano, Sonny Fortune, Lauren Kinhan (New York Voices), Harry Allen, Clifton Anderson, Allan Harris, Don Byron, Janis Siegel (Manhattan Transfer), Antonio Hart, Tony Middleton, Bob Mover, Steve Williams, Eddie Gomez, Sarah Hayes, and Karrin Allyson among many others. All proceeds from the event will go to Direct Relief International Japanese Relief and Recovery Fund to benefit victims of the earthquake and tsunami that hit near Sendai on March 11.
