The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles is proud to present a screening ofLove and Honor (武士の一分; 2006) directed by the legendary Yamada Yji and starring uber-celeb Kimutaku (Kimura Takuya) at the James Bridges Theater in UCLA's Melnitz Hall. The film carries on traditions in blind samurai protagonists, and represents one of three films Yamada directed in the first decade of the new millennium, partly in tribute to warrior and cinematic traditions, but also in ways that revise our view of both.Join us for a discussion with Yamamoto Ichiro (producer for Shochiku Studios), Nicholas Rucka (filmmaker, editor, film critic), and Jordan Smith (lecturer UCLA/CSU Long Beach) to be followed by a light reception sponsored byUCLA Terasaki Center for Japanese Studies.

Sponsored by The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles and the UCLA Terasaki Center for Japanese Studies. Supported by Shochiku, Co., Ltd, Eleven Arts, Inc, Funimation Entertainment, and Japan Film Society
