About
Nikkei Women Legacy Association is a nonprofit organization founded by former Nisei Week Queens from the 1950s to 1980s. The heart of NWLA's mission is to preserve and promote Nikkei (specifically Japanese Americans in Southern California) history and culture with a primary focus on women. Over the years, NWLA events within the Little Tokyo community have reflected our desire to give back to the community with continued focus on our mission. NWLA strives to engage and enlighten others to the importance of preserving Nikkei cultural history through education and participation with our projects and events.
