Get ready for the holiday season with this special On the Veranda led by mixed media artist Karen Toda, who has experience teaching her paper and textile works, as well as interior decorating. In her work, Toda has explored and interpreted the Japanese traditions in a contemporary way.
For this lecture, Toda will go over the traditions of Japanese decorations and symbols for Oshogatsu or New Years, and demonstrate how to make a nengajyo (New Year's Card) and how to wrap holiday gifts using a furoshiki.
