The evolution of Japanese gardens in pre-modern Japan and modern America is explored in this lecture by Kendall Brown, professor of Asian art history at California State University, Long Beach. The program is the first in a new series of lectures on the history of Japanese gardens that will lead up to the centennial of The Huntington's own Japanese Garden in 2012.
