USC Trojan Marching Band to Perform in Japan at Expo 2025
The Spirit of Troy will travel to Japan to celebrate 40 years as USC's global ambassadors. They will perform at Osaka's Expo 2025 and appear in a marching band festival in Aichi Prefecture. This marks their third visit to Japan and seventh world expo performance.

• 1:00 pm: Performance at Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park in Nagakute
• Performing with Aimachi Marching Band and URIBOU Blasters Nagoya Marching Sounds

Details
Over 100 members of the USC Trojan Marching Band USC Song Leaders and USC Spirit Leaders will represent the university during the Japan tour. The Spirit of Troy will perform twice at Expo 2025 and take part in a marching band festival the next day.

During the tour the band will
• Visit Tokyo Hamamatsu Kyoto and Osaka
• Tour the Yamaha Toyooka Factory where their instruments are made
• Visit Tokyo Disney Resort
• Explore Tokyo and Kyoto

This will be the band’s third performance in Japan

• First trip was in 1985 for the Mirage Bowl in Tokyo
• Returned in 2005 for Expo 2005 in Aichi Prefecture
• This is their seventh performance at a world expo

Director Jacob Vogel will lead the band on his third overseas trip as director
• “It’s an honor to represent the university on an international stage and shine a bright light of positivity on the arts”

Since 1988 the band has visited 19 countries and performed in Asia eight times

Highlights include:
• Normandy Beach for the 50th anniversary of D-Day
• Rome's Colosseum in 2006
• Ipanema Beach Rio de Janeiro in 2008
• London’s Trafalgar Square before the 2012 Olympics
• First American marching band in Hong Kong’s Chinese New Year parade in 2003 and Macao in 2016
