Yayoi Kusama: Exceptional Works
Aspiring to Pumpkin’s Love, the Love in My Heart, 2023
Yayoi Kusama's monumental bronze and urethane paint sculpture, "Aspiring to Pumpkin’s Love, the Love in My Heart" (2023), stands as a testament to her lifelong fascination with pumpkins. This piece, part of a series of large-scale pumpkin works, transforms the pumpkin's typical shape into an undulating form, offering dynamic perspectives from different angles. Debuting at David Zwirner's New York gallery in 2023 and presented at Art Basel Unlimited 2024, this sculpture embodies the themes central to Kusama’s work, celebrating the joy and comfort pumpkins have brought her since childhood.

“Pumpkins have been a great comfort to me since my childhood; they speak to me of the joy of living. They are humble and amusing at the same time, and I have and always will celebrate them in my art.” -Yayoi Kusama
