The Eden Japanese Community Center (EJCC) is a vibrant hub for the Japanese American community in the East Bay area of Northern California. Located in Hayward, the center has been serving the community since its establishment in 1950. It provides a wide array of cultural, educational, and social programs designed to preserve and promote Japanese heritage while fostering a sense of community among its members.

One of the core missions of the EJCC is to offer cultural education and enrichment programs. These include classes in traditional Japanese arts such as ikebana (flower arranging), tea ceremony, calligraphy, and taiko drumming. The center also hosts language classes for both children and adults, ensuring that the Japanese language and cultural practices are passed down through generations.

The EJCC is also known for its annual events, which draw significant participation from both the Japanese American community and the broader public. These events include the Obon Festival, which features traditional Bon Odori dances, food booths, and cultural performances. Another key event is the Mochitsuki (rice pounding) festival, where participants can experience the traditional method of making mochi.

Additionally, the center plays a crucial role in supporting the local community through various social services. It offers programs for seniors, including social gatherings, exercise classes, and health-related workshops. The EJCC also provides a space for community meetings, family celebrations, and other social activities, making it a central gathering place that strengthens community bonds and fosters intercultural understanding.
