Shuei-Do Manju San Jose how old, Japantown’s oldest and most beloved bakery, is a Japanese-style bakery that serves up some of the best baked goods in the Bay Area. A local favorite since 1961, Shuei-Do Manju San Jose has become famous for its delicious manju, a popular Japanese sweet bun filled with red bean paste or various other fillings.

The shop has expanded over the years to include other treats like mochi ice cream, dorayaki pancakes, taiyaki fish-shaped waffles and even sushi rolls. Customers can purchase individual items or select from an array of boxed sets that make great gifts.

In addition to their regular menu items, Shuei-Do Manju San Jose also offers special seasonal treats like strawberry manju for spring, chestnut mochi for fall and sakura mochi in the winter. The bakery’s specialty is the San Jose Manju - a large, round bun typically filled with sweet red bean paste and covered in a layer of fluffy white mochi.
