Map of Boukakuan Japanese Tea House and Garden, 1832 Jacksonville Jobstown Road, Columbus

Boukakuan Japanese Tea House and Garden is located in Columbus, New Jersey, approximately 30 miles northeast of Philadelphia and 55 miles south of New York City.

It is situated on the grounds of Copany Friends Meeting House (1775) and was completed in 1997. The building’s exterior follows the simple lines of a Quaker structure, but the interior is a four and a half tatami mat tea room, complete with a small preparation room.

Boukakuan is easily reached from Route I-295 and both the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Turnpikes.

Boukakuan Japanese Tea House is open by appointment only. You may book private demonstrations of the Japanese Tea Ceremony at Boukakuan or offsite. We also offer lessons in the Urasenke Tradition for beginners and advanced students.
