The annual Japanese autumn festival, traditionally held in November on Guam, will now be celebrated in the spring, with the next event scheduled for April 12, 2025, at Governor Joseph Flores Memorial Beach Park, also known as Ypao Beach Park in Tumon.

The Japan Club of Guam announced the date change after careful consideration, addressing concerns about the typhoon season typically occurring during autumn.

Formerly known as Akimatsuri, the festival is evolving, and in 2025 it will debut as the Guam Japan Festival, allowing attendees to enjoy the charm of springtime.

This revitalized event will highlight the beauty of cherry blossoms while offering a vibrant showcase of Japanese culture, including traditional Bon-odori dancing, Mikoshi processions, and Kingyo-sukui (goldfish scooping), providing activities for all ages.
