Commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima with a prayer for peace and the folding of origami cranes.

The Peace Crane Project comes to the Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden. We will be joined by Sue DiCicco, founder and president (https://peacecraneproject.org), to launchthe Pasadena chapter of the project with a mission to promote understanding and peace locally and globally. Fold origami peace cranes with us and fill their wings with hope and love for Hiroshima, Nagasaki and beyond.

For this event, we will open the garden, serve tea and snacks and officially launch the garden as a Garden for Peace, beginning a series of programs focused on cultivating peace and global understanding. (We will also celebrate the United Nations International Day of Peace on Thursday, September 21 at the garden with tea and paper crane folding.)

The event is free, children are most welcome, and no reservations are needed. Donations to the garden are always gratefully accepted. Please park in one of our two driveways on-site.
