On Saturday, October 15th, the Buddhist Church of Oakland (BCO) will present a showing of Hidden Legacy: Japanese Traditional Performing Arts in the WWII Internment Camps, from 2-4pm in the Church's Social Hall. This one-hour film highlights the teachers and students of the performing arts practiced in the internment camps of World War II, and what effect it had on them, then and now.

This presentation will be hosted by BCO member Shirley Kazuyo Muramoto-Wong, who was the Creative Director of the film. Shirley learned to play the koto from her mother, who was taught while in Topaz and Tule Lake camps. For more information about the film, go to www.jcalegacy.com.

The Buddhist Church of Oakland is located at 825 Jackson St. (at 9th St.) in Oakland. Limited parking is available in the Church parking lot, or take BART to the Lake Merritt station and walk two blocks north. Admission is free and donations are welcomed and appreciated. For more information about the Church, please go to www.buddhistchurchofoakland.org, or call the Church office at 510-832-5988.
