This year, BTSD will be teaming up with the Japanese Friendship Garden of San Diego for the
Bon Odori Festival, which will be held in BALBOA PARK for its Centennial.

So, on SATURDAY, AUGUST 1, 2015, Join us in Balboa Park for the annual BON ODORI FESTIVAL!
From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with Paid Admission, the Japanese Friendship Garden will have
festivities inside the Garden; everything from games, to crafts and food, you'll find it there.

From 4:00 p.m. to 8:30/9:00 p.m., the Bon Odori Festival will continue in the upper portion of
the Japanese Friendship Garden (food, refreshments, games, etc.), and spread out to the
Spreckles Organ Pavilion where the traditional Obon Odori (dance) will take place. Dancing
will begin at 6:30 p.m. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join in! You don't have to know
the dances to join in and have some fun. There will be instructors positioned on the inside of
the dance circle (on a yagura, small stage). However, if you would like to learn the dances
beforehand, you (your friends and family) are welcome to come for the weekly Obon dance
practices (Obon Dance Practice Schedule).

This year, in addition to the regular weekly practices at BTSD, there will be a total of THREE
(3) practices at the Japanese Friendship Garden. This will not only help spread the word
about the Bon Odori, but it will also help dancers get a feel of what it will be like to dance at
Balboa Park (click on "Obon Dance Practice Schedule" for dates).

More details on what will be featured at the Bon Odori can be found in the Link "2015 Bon
Odori--Detailed Information," below. There is also a link for the parking (map), which also
includes the tram route (to pick-up/drop-off for parking, if you park further).

If you have any questions about the BON ODORI, please contact the temple:
