Join us for a night of poetry, music and performance as Genie Nakano performs haibun and Tanka from her book, "Enter the Stream." This event will take place on Saturday, November 1st from 4:00 pm- 6:00 pm in the Nisei Veterans Memorial Hall at the Gardena Valley JCI. This event is more than just a book reading, it will include various forms of music and performance that brings her poetry to life. This event is open and free to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

Genie Nakano is a third generation Japanese American born in East Los Angeles, CA. She is the author of the upcoming collection, Storyteller, and has published her poetry in such journals as Atlas Poetica and Ribbons. In addition to being a writer, she is also a yoga/meditation instructor, and has an MFA in Dance from UCLA. She was a columnist for the Gardena Valley News for many years, and currently has her poetry section, Genie's Lamp, in the Rafu Shimpo. Haibun poetry from her first book "Enter the Stream" will be the thematic material from which she tells her stories of a sansei's journey in life.
