Largest Japanese Family Day Festival Event. Japan Family Day at Santa Anita Park was started as a way to introduce Japanese traditional culture and to interact with the people of Southern California.
Through the years, it has become one of the most popular spring festivals in southern California. Featuring cultural events and demonstrations, Japan Family Day has something for everyone. So, be ready to observe, participate, and most of all, have fun.

The Tokyo City Cup, is the sole graded stakes race named for a major city outside of the United States. A free Tokyo City Cup giveaway is available for a limited number of patrons, and a Tokyo City Cup Game will also be taking place, with various prizes to be awarded to the winners. Information on Free Admission and details of the event will be available on our website(below).Gates open at Santa Anita Park at 11:00 a.m., with first post at 1:00 pm
Japan Family Day features Japanese cultural exhibition booths, a taiko (Japanese drum) performance by LA Taiko Ichiza , Japanese pop culture and cosplay, varied entertainment for children, and many opportunities to sample your favorite Japanese cuisine, such as ramen, sushi, Takoyaki, and much more! Our Tokyo City Cup Ambassador will also be available throughout the day to take photos. Additionally, this year's special events will include a cosplay contest with famous cosplayers as judges and J-pop live performances by Tune in Tokyo.
