2nd Annual Centenary UMC Summer Open House with Public Odori/Ondo dancing Sunday July 6th from 4pm to 8:00pm. To thank our community friends for their continued support Centenary will hold its second annual "Summer Open House" a night of culture, community, fellowship, food and fun. This is an open event for all ages and all are welcome to attend. This will be a great time to meet up with family and friends, catch up with friends from the community and a great way to make new friends. Come dressed in yukata, kimono, jinbei, your organization's hapi or just the way you are.

A short list of some of the organizations we will acknowledge and recognize at our summer open house include the Terminal Island Obon Hoppers, Sensei Masako Rodriguez and the Meiji Dance Club, the San Fernando Valley Japanese American Community Center (a long with the San Fernando Buddhist Temple), the (Sun) Valley Japanese Community Center (a long with the Sun Valley Buddhist Temple) and our dear friends and neighbors from across the street Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple. Hopefully our friends from the Pasadena Japanese Cultural Institute as well as our Nisei Week friends will join us on the 6th.

Sensei Art Ishii's Matsubayashi Shorin-ryu Dojo of Little Tokyo will share in hosting the Open House as the karate dojo holds its practices at Centenary every Monday and Wednesday night. New to Centenary's Monday and Wednesday night calendar, Kotobuki No Kai Minyo Dance Group led by Sensei Imoto Hoshunjyu / Kazue practices minyo odori dance twice weekly at Centenary. For Kotobuki No Kai this event will not only be a open house but a "house warming" gathering and they too will share in hosting the event.

This is a FREE event to attend. We will have food, entertainment, games and contests ALL FREE. What kind of food, entertainment, games and contests??? Let's just say it's kind of like "potluck" but guaranteed a night of culture, community, fellowship, food and fun. And yes we will have Public Odori/Ondo Dancing. And what Public Odori/Ondo dances will we dance to??? "Potluck" as well (this may be a good time to get in a extra Nisei Week 2014 Parade Dance practice.) We will have 3 dance sessions: 5pm, 6pm and 7pm. The food, entertainment, games and contests will take place in between the dance sessions.

Hope to see everyone on Sunday July 6th. Remember, this is an Open Event and all are welcome to attend. If you wish to help with any of the event programming including food and entertainment please contact Martha (marthanishinaka@aol.com) or Wesley Nishinaka (wnishinaka@aol.com.)
