The Annual Japanese Obon Festival is back, featuring food, games, dancing, and performances by Spokane Taiko and Spokane Kendo.

On Saturday and Sunday, August 17 & 18, the Spokane Buddhist Temple will be reviving its annual Obon Festival. Similar to other temples, this event is a major Buddhist Holiday honoring our past
ancestors by hosting a bazaar type event. Our current plans include the following: We will be offering Chicken Teriyaki Rice Bowl, Curry Rice Bowl, Fresh Fruit Salad and a Green Salad with Miso
dressing. The event also boasts a variety of games for kids of all ages including Ping Pong Ball Toss, Tic Tac-Toe and a Putting game. Inside the gym, we will be hosting exhibits including Sumi-E, Ikebana, Bonsai and more. Demonstrations will also be held on the stage. The highlight of the event is the Bon Odori or Bon Dancing to be held on the green.

If you are interested in volunteering at the event. We will have sign up sheets at the temple.
