Celebrate Shichi Go San, or 7-5-3, at Shofuso Japanese House and Garden. Have your child's photograph taken in kimono in the beautiful setting of a traditional-style Japanese house and nationally-ranked garden in Philadelphia's West Fairmount Park that reflects the history of Japanese culture in Philadelphia, from the 1876 Centennial Exposition to the installation of its contemporary paintings in 2007. Photographs are taken inside the shoinoma rooms in front the paintings of artist Hiroshi Senju. Photography appointments are 45 minutes.

Reservation information: Reservations are required. Register online at www.shofuso.com. $60 per photography session for 1 child. Additional charge for additional children. Kimono rental $40 per child.Assistance dressing child in his/her own kimono $20. Reservations must be made by September 30, 2012. Reservations can be made and additional information can be found at www.shofuso.com. If you want to have your child photographed with other family members or with children of another family, please email us at [email protected] and let us know of these special arrangements.

Kimono rental: Traditional kimonos are available for rent for a fee of $35 per child. If your child has all of the garments for dressing, an assistant can help dress your child for $15 per child.

Photography: Indicate how many children you want to have photographed and their genders and ages. You may select Saturday or Sunday for your appointment day, and we will contact you after October 6 with your scheduled appointment time between 11am and 4pm. We will take all of the reservations first to coordinate use of the kimono. Professional photography by Luke Haggerty.
