The Okinawa Association of America, Inc. (OAA) is hosting a reception with American Olympian, Tamari Miyashiro of the US Women's Volleyball Team this Friday, Setpember 7, 2012 at 7:00pm at the OAA Center Yamauchi Building located at 16500 S. Western Avenue in Gardena. Admission is free but RSVP is requested.

Of Okinawan descent, Ms. Miyashiro, 25, played the position of libero for the US Women's Volleyball Team that took silver in the 2012 London Olympics this past summer. Born in Hawaii, she played at Kalani High School in Honolulu and was selected as All State in her junior and senior years. She is also a two-time National Defensive Player of the Year while at the University of Washington and has been on the US team since 2010.

The OAA especially encourages young athletes to come out to meet her and hear her talk about her experiences. There will be opportunities to get her autograph, take photos and ask questions.

Refreshments will be served.
