The Japan-America Society of Georgia will honor two outstanding leaders in the Japan-Georgia relationship at the Mike Mansfield Awards Dinner Gala at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta hotel (located at 3300 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30305) on June 26, 2012, at 6:00pm.

The "Mike Mansfield Awards" were established in December 1985 by the Executive Committee of The Japan-America Society of Georgia in honor of former Ambassador Mansfield's outstanding and steadfast efforts in fostering good will between Japan and the United States. The awards are presented to outstanding Americans and Japanese who have continuously contributed their efforts toward promoting better understanding of cultural and economic issues between the peoples of the United States and Japan. Notable past recipients include President Jimmy Carter, former Georgia Governors Joe Frank Harris, and George Busbee.

The JASG proudly congratulates the 2012 Mansfield Awards Winners: Mr. Alex Gregory, Chairman of the Board, President & CEO of YKK Corporation of America and Mr. Tom Yamamoto, Senior Advisor of Murata Electronics North America.

The Gala itself provides a unique opportunity for cross-cultural understandings within the Atlanta community. Each year, over 300 guests attend the Gala, including esteemed Japanese business leaders doing business in Georgia, as well as prestigious Georgia companies and business owners investing in Japan.

One of the entertainment highlights of the evening will be a concert performance by special guest performer and Grammy Award winning artist, Lee Greenwood. The gala will also feature the Society's popular Silent Auction. This fundraiser will feature special Japanese items, airline tickets, restaurant certificates, and other exciting items. All proceeds from the auction will fund the JASG's many educational, business, and cultural projects that bring together the Japanese and American communities in Georgia.

A corporate table of eight seats is available for $1,000 for members and $1,200 for non-members. Individual place settings can be purchased for $125 each for members and $150 for non-members. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. For more information, please contact the Society at 404-842-1400 or visit the JASG website at www.jasgeorgia.org.
