On Saturday, 9 am to 12:30 pm, the Sawtelle Cherry Blossom Festival is to be held at Stoner Park in West Los Angeles.� The Festival is being sponsored by the Japanese Institute of Sawtelle, its Sawtelle Gakuin (Japanese language school) in conjunction with the Consulate General of Japan and 11th Councilmanic District of the City of Los Angeles.

Consul General Jun Niimi is scheduled to talk about the 100th anniversary of sakura trees to the United States and the cherry trees around Stoner Park.� Bill Rosendahl shall present greetings as well as recognize Frank and Masako Okabayashi, Nikkei leaders of the Sawtelle community, as well as recognize Nikkei seniors (new 90 and 80 year old Nikkei).� The taiko group from the local West Los Angeles Buddhist Temple shall perform along with students from Sawtelle Gakuin.� Culminating the program for the day will be the annual Field day (UndoKai) events for young and old, a multi generational program of games and relays.

Stoner Park is located on Stoner Avenue (cross of Stoner and La Grange) in West Los Angeles. Cherry Blossoms shall provide a perfect venue for the festival.
