Fantastic Tales from Floating Worlds with 826LA
Sunday, October 17, 12:30-1:45 p.m. and 2:00-3:15 p.m.

Hiroshige's ukiyo-e prints capture travelers from Edo (Tokyo), lively birds and elegant flowers that appear to come alive from paper to create realistic scenes. When we see his prints, we are drawn into a mystifying world that occurred over a hundred years ago. Now, imagine if we inhabited the settings found in the prints of Hiroshige. What if we were flying kites in Edo? Or feeling the splash from a fifty-foot wave? What if we spent the afternoon staring at a falcon that blocks out the sun? What stories could we tell that match Hiroshige's spectacular views? Join the creative writing center 826LA and author Salvador Plascencia to imagine and write about your visit to a land long ago and an ocean away.

The course if free and limited to 20 students per session, ages 8-13. Advance registration is required and can be made at workshops.826la.org.
