In 1982, Keiro Senior HealthCare extended its reach to serve seniors and their families in the South Bay area. With over 30,000 Japanese Americans in the South Bay, the need for culturally sensitive skilled nursing and rehabilitation services was evident. Keiro partnered with the community to raise the initial funds necessary to open South Bay Keiro Nursing Home (SBKNH), a 98-bed facility.

Today, SBKNH continues to offer 24-hour care with a culturally sensitive approach. With familiar language, food and values, Keiro embraces the importance of showing dignity and respect for our elders, making SBKNH a “home away from home.” Caring staff members and local volunteers from our community engage the residents in a variety of stimulating activities, including traditional Japanese arts, music therapy, and one-on-one visits. Serving as a model facility for visiting health care professionals and students from Japan, SBKNH makes a tremendous effort to maintain awareness of the latest developments occurring in geriatric care. The combination of innovative care and traditional values enables Keiro to provide peace of mind to residents and their families.

Admission Requirements
Limited or non-ambulatory persons who require 24-hour skilled nursing care or rehabilitation and medications administered by a licensed nurse. Ambulatory persons with cognitive impairment. Physician’s referral. Waiting list varies. Please call for availability.
