Kyodo System

The Japanese Language School Unified System(Kyodo System)
Is the greatest Japanese language school in North America, established in 1948. Unlike Japanese language school for Japanese students, the basic policy of our school is “Teaching Japanese as a second language.” Our doors are open to all students, regardless of race and national origin, who wish to learn the Japanese language and to understand Japan. The students at Kyodo System who are in the 9th grade or above in public or private high schools are eligible to take credit tests in Japanese and can earn foreign language credit in Japanese. Kyodo System has five affiliated schools in and around Los Angeles area and the enrollment is about 500. Every Saturday, students learn not only the language and culture of Japan but also engage in various activities throughout the year. The main events are academic achievement exhibits and speech contest. Students work hard to compete at the final speech contest in spring. In the cultural art class, calligraphy, flower arrangement, and tea ceremony are taught by professionals. Students can experience the roots of Japanese culture besides learning the art form. Lately, we have welcomed many Chinese Hispanic students in class, whose parents consider learning a foreign language an advantage in the future. Kyodo System wishes to teach children the beautiful Japanese language and Japanese cultural psychology.
