San Luis Obispo Obon Festival - A Japanese Cultural Event
Join the community for a festive afternoon celebrating Japanese culture with traditional food, music, and dance. Enjoy taiko drumming, martial arts, folk dancing, ikebana floral displays, and unique Japanese goods for sale. This family-friendly event offers a blend of spiritual observance and cultural appreciation.

About the Obon Festival
The Obon Festival is a traditional Japanese Buddhist event that honors and remembers the spirits of ancestors. Families come together for food, dance, and rituals that celebrate the lives of those who came before. Bon Odori, or communal folk dancing, is performed to welcome and send off the spirits with joy and gratitude.
