It’s rice harvesting season at the Japanese Heritage Shōya House! Join us to experience the traditional practice of growing and harvesting rice. Learn how rice is cultivated from seed to grain and try bundling, tying, threshing, and winnowing with guidance from Huntington experts.

Details
Free with general admission. Join Aaron Hughes, horticulture curator of Asian gardens, for an introduction to the practice of growing and harvesting rice. Talks are scheduled at 12 pm, 12:30 pm, 1 pm, and 1:30 pm.

Schedule
Participate in hands-on harvesting activities such as bundling, tying, threshing, and winnowing. Learn about rice cultivation and its cultural significance with presentations guided by Huntington staff.
