The Daikin Festival is an annual event held in Decatur, Alabama, that celebrates the cultural exchange between Japan and the United States. The festival features traditional Japanese Bon Odori dancing, which is a style of dancing performed during the Bon Festival in Japan. The festival also includes a variety of Japanese festival foods, such as takoyaki, yakisoba, sushi, and mochi.

The Daikin Festival is organized by the Daikin America company, which is a subsidiary of the Japanese company Daikin Industries. The festival is a way for the company to showcase its commitment to diversity and cultural exchange, as well as to celebrate its ties to the local community.

In addition to the Bon Odori dancing and festival foods, the Daikin Festival also includes a variety of other cultural activities and performances, such as taiko drumming, martial arts demonstrations, and Japanese traditional music. The festival is open to the public and is a great opportunity for people to learn more about Japanese culture and traditions.

One of the largest Japanese cultural events in the Southeastern United States is eagerly anticipated by us.

After a four-year hiatus due to the coronavirus, the Daikin Festival will return to Decatur on May 5 at Point Mallard Park.

The free family-friendly festival, which at its peak attracted 20,000 people, will feature live music, Japanese folk dancing, Japanese calligraphy, yakisoba, barbecue, hamburgers, drinks and fireworks.

The festival, set for 6:30 to 9 p.m., will culminate with a fireworks show.

Created in 1994 to celebrate Daikin America's grand opening in Decatur, the Daikin Festival, which shares Japanese culture with the community, started in the company's parking lot in 1994 with 500 guests.
