2025: 69th Annual Valley Japanese Community Center OBON Festival: Japanese Food, Dango, Games, Judo, Tea Ceremony (2 Days)NEW

The Annual Valley Obon Festival Is Celebrating 69 years! The Valley Japanese Community Center is located at 8850 Lankershim Blvd, Sun Valley, CA. All-time favorite foods such as Udon, Teriyaki Beef, Sushi, Chinese Chicken Salad, and Homemade baked goods will be available for purchase.

Valley Obon Festival schedule: Judo, Kendo, Tea Ceremony, and Taiko demonstrations will be held, along with festival-type games.  
 
After the demonstrations, please join in the Bon Odori dances. Bon dances are dances of joy so age, looks, or experience should not inhibit anyone from entering the circle of dancers!

Free admission. Everybody is welcome.

Obon Dates
Saturday, June 21, 2025: 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Sunday, June 22, 2025: 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Dance Schedule
• Saturday Bon Odori begins at 7:00 pm
• Sunday Bon Odori begins at 6:30 pm

Saturday Demonstrations
• Tea Ceremony (Chado) ongoing from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm
• Kendo Demonstration: 6:15 pm to 6:35 pm
• Akaoni Daiko: 7:50 pm to 8:10 pm (during Ondo break)

Sunday Demonstrations
• Judo Demonstration: 5:45 pm to 6:05 pm

Practice Dates for Bon Odori
• Tuesdays and Fridays from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
• Bring kachi kachi, tenugui (towel) and Uchiwa (round fan).
Practice Dates: 5/30, 6/3, 6/6, 6/10, and 6/13 - 2025
