2024 - 68th Annual Valley Japanese Community Center OBON Festival: Japanese Food, Dango, Games, Judo, Tea Ceremony (2 Days)NEW

The Annual Valley Obon Festival Celebrate 68 years!  The Valley Japanese Community Center is located at 8850 Lankershim Blvd, Sun Valley, CA. All-time favorite foods such as Udon, Teriyaki Beef, Sushi, Chinese Chicken Salad, and Fresh Roasted Corn on the Cob and Homemade baked goods are some of the foods which will be available for purchase.

Valley Obon Festival schedule: demonstrations of Judo, Kendo, Tea Ceremony, Taiko will be held. Festival-type games.  
 
After the demonstrations, please join in the Bon Odori dances. Bon dances are dances of joy so age, looks or experience should not inhibit anyone from entering the circle of dancers!

Free admission. Everybody is welcome.

Sat: 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Sun: 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Saturday Schedule
4:30 pm - 7:30 pm: Chado (tea ceremony) ongoing.
6:15 pm - 6:35 pm: Kendo demonstration 615-635
6:30 pm: Ondo dancing
7:50 pm - 8:10 pm: Akaoni Daiko during Ondo break

Sunday Schedule
5:45 pm- 6:05 pm: Judo demonstration
6:30 pm: Ondo dancing

Parking
We have a shuttle van running continuously for festival attendees: Look for the shuttle sign.

FREE Parking Information 
There will be no diagonal parking this year.  A shuttle van will be going back and forth.

Obon Dance Practice Dates: June 4, 7, 11, 14, 18 - 2024

Bon Dance Practice Starts: 6:30 pm
• Bring kachi kachi, tenugui (towel) and Uchiwa (round fan).
