2014 - 8th Annual Japan Day - Central Park (Sunday)NEW

Since Japan Day @ Central Park first started in 2007, we have been delighted at how quickly this new tradition has captured the interest of New Yorkers with the official support of the Consulate-General of Japan in New York, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of New York, The Nippon Club and many corporations. Now in its 8th year, we are proud of the praise Japan Day has garnered – New Yorkers from every walk of life, former Park Commissioner Adrian Benepe, and even Mayor Michael Bloomberg has said Japan Day has become an eagerly anticipated cultural event on the city's calendar. For the 2014 event, we are in the process of working out the details of the event, placing the emphasis on enjoyable activities that will deepen participants' understanding and appreciation of Japanese culture.


「Japan Day @ セントラルパーク」は、1) 日米文化交流の促進、2) ニューヨークへの感謝の表意、3）日系コミュニティ内の連携強化、という三つの目的のもと2007年にスタートした、日本文化紹介のイベントです。開始当初より、在ニューヨーク日本国総領事館様をはじめ、ニューヨーク日本商工会議所様や日本クラブ様、多数の日系及び米国企業の皆様、そして個人ボランティアや来場者の皆様からの温かいご支援とご協力により、毎年恒例のイベントとして着実に地元コミュニティに浸透して参りました。昨年5月に開催された第7回目のイベントでは、日本文化紹介のアクティビティテントやステージパフォーマンス、そして日本食のフードテントを実施し、約4万5千人の来場者をお迎え致しました。2014年のイベントでも、皆様が楽しみながら有意義な日米交流を図ることのできるよう、工夫を重ねて参りたく存じます。

The event was designed by the Japanese community of New York with three missions in mind: 1) to promote deeper understanding of Japanese Culture, 2) to say "Thank you, New York!" for providing such a nurturing home to America's largest Japanese Community, and 3) to strengthen relationships within the Japanese grassroots community.
