Introverted Mitsuya Majime (Ryuhei Matsuda) is a wash-out as a salesman, but with his linguistics degree, he's the ideal replacement for a departing editor working on a new dictionary entitled The Great Passage. The project requires years of painstaking work, but Mitsuya is sustained by his love for an aspiring chef (Aoi Miyazaki).
