In remembrance of the victims and with continued support for the survivors of the Great East Japan earthquake and tsunami, local Tohoku region newspaper The Kahoku Shimpo and the UCLA Paul I. and Hisako Terasaki Center for Japanese Studies have come together to present an exhibition that uses photojournalism to document the lives and stories of those affected, illuminating the continuing efforts of a nation as it moves forward toward recovery.
The symposium features specialists that will discuss the earthquake from multiple perspectives.

Participants include Hitoshi Abe, UCLA Paul I. and Hisako Terasaki Center for Japanese Studies;
Hideya Terashima, The Kahoku Shimpo; Malka Older, Save the Children; Junko Mabuchi, ADRA;
Toshio Hirano, JEN; Masashige Motoe, Archi+Aid; and Christopher Hawthorne, Los Angeles Times.
