Japanese American Historical Society of San Diego
Event Location
San Diego, CA 92162-0988
Mission
We have dedicated ourselves to the collection, identification and preservation of materials related to the Japanese American experience. We likewise wish to identify and celebrate contributions local Nikkei have made to San Diego County. We view our primary functions as being historical, educational and cultural.
Activities
In addition to our preservation and collection activities, JAHSSD regularly provides educational programs and resources to local schools and universities. We present exhibits, public programs and participate in community forums and dialogues. With the annual Kansha Award, JAHSSD recognizes special individuals who have made significant contributions to the Nikkei community. We also publish Footprints, a quarterly newsletter for our membership, and maintain this website.
