October 2022 Japanese Tea Garden's 127-year-old pagoda was completed.
The pagoda at the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park was completed in October 2022, after a year-long restoration project. The $1.5 million project repaired damage from an earthquake in 2022 and added new landscaping and seating around the pagoda.

About Restoration Project
The restoration project includes both structural repairs and aesthetic improvements to enhance visitors' enjoyment of the area. Work began in April 2021 and is expected to be completed by 2022. The project team has already made considerable progress in restoring some of the building's intricate details, such as its hand-painted tiles and decorative stonework.

The reconstructed pagoda's roof is expected to be the crowning glory of the garden. It will feature a series of LED lights that will illuminate the pagoda each night.

The project team has also planned additional improvements, including new landscaping and an expanded patio area for visitors to enjoy.

When completed, the restored Tea Garden Pagoda will stand as a reminder of San Francisco's rich cultural history and serve as a beautiful addition to Golden Gate Park. The project is estimated to cost $2 million and its completion will mark yet another milestone in preserving this treasured piece of San Francisco history.
