Bunka no Hi is a free cultural festival dedicated to celebrating, commemorating, and educating the public about Japanese and Japanese American culture in the Seattle area. This year’s theme is “Finding New Beauty - Artful Mending,” featuring demonstrations of kintsugi, sashiko, and kogin-zashi, as well as presentations of sumo wrestling, sword arts, tea ceremonies, and more. Enjoy food from Tokara Confectionery and Kozmo Kitchen, explore the Hosekibako Japanese Resale Shop, and experience a day filled with culture and community.

Bunka no Hi celebrates Japanese culture through interactive art demonstrations and traditional performances. Witness kintsugi by Jen Lo, sashiko by Shannon and Jason, and kogin-zashi by Satomi Toraya. Experience sumo wrestling, sword demonstrations, tea ceremonies, and more cultural presentations. Food will be available for purchase from Tokara Confectionery and Kozmo Kitchen while supplies last. The Hosekibako Japanese Resale Shop will also be open during the event.
